Vina P. Hermanto
Drawing inspiration from the profound teachings of Buddhism, my work delves into the subtle rhythms and interconnectedness of existence. It serves as both a mirror and a window, revealing the intricate connections between the tangible and intangible.
Primarily working with ceramics, offering a versatile canvas for exploration and experimentation. Through this medium, I investigate the dynamic interplay between materiality and creativity, seeking to express the subtle nuances of my artistic philosophy.
My exploration involves the use of elastic-plastic bubbles, a medium that challenges the relentless pace of modern life. This work invites contemplation of "slowness as movement," a concept that subverts traditional notions of progress and speed. In embracing the quiet power of stillness, I seek to highlight a form of movement often overlooked—one that encourages us to pause, breathe, and engage with the finer details of our surroundings.
Currently, I am focused on a series that employs white dot stickers on a white canvas. This approach highlights the subtleties of unspoken communication and the delicate interplay between form and absence. The minimalist use of color and texture invites viewers to engage deeply with the intricate patterns and their underlying meanings.
Through my art, I strive to convey the interconnectedness of the spiritual and material worlds, capturing the essence of moments in their purest form. My work invites viewers to explore the hidden narratives that emerge in the stillness of slowness, offering a space for introspection amidst the fast pace of contemporary life.
