Will You?
"Will you?" delves into the nuances of human behavior and cultural norms, with a particular focus on attentiveness and observation. Inspired by Japan's subtle approach to public decorum, the work creates an environment where participants are subtly guided through actions, such as changing slippers. The sand in the installation serves as a medium to capture footprints, providing a visual record of those who follow or disregard the instructions.
This work contrasts the understated nature of these cues with the more overt signals commonly seen elsewhere. By using subtlety, "Will you?" challenges participants to engage with their surroundings in a mindful manner. The artwork explores themes of awareness and compliance, highlighting the often overlooked details that shape our daily interactions.
Ultimately, "Will you?" prompts viewers to consider the broader implications of their actions and the societal norms they navigate. It raises questions about how we perceive and respond to subtle guidance, encouraging a deeper reflection on the importance of observation and mindfulness in our daily lives.
